The Long Distance Project

After a five-year hiatus the original founding members of TheatreRUN are creating a new show together this Fall. Tentatively called The Long Distance Project, the show will premiere in September 2010 as part of Chicago’s High concept Laboratories 2010 International Collaboration Series.

The Dilemma: An international theatre ensemble attempts to create a new work with members living in four different countries.

The Challenge: Transform the main obstacle into a creative motor.

The distance to cover:

Chicago to New York- 795 miles

New York to Toronto-493 miles

Toronto to London-3548 miles

London to Lausanne- 460 miles

= 5,296 miles...

Through a dynamic (and frankly unheard of) collaborative process the founding members of TheatreRUN, each in their home cities of Toronto, New York, Chicago, Lausanne and London, are using tools of the modern age -Skype, video, audio posts, and email to construct the new show. The Long Distance Project is being created over a distance of 5296 miles...

The new project follows the private lives of five solitary characters as they embark on parallel adventures that seek to close the distance between themselves and the world around them.
